The 2013 flood left the Bragg Creek Community in a need of a revitalization plan that not only restored the valuable character of the community but built on the small town feel. Jonathan Schmidt while at McElhanney Consulting was the project manager for the award-winning Bragg Creek Revitalization Plan in collaboration with MVH Urban Planning & Design. The project team engaged the community using a GIS platform for digital comments, a storefront office, and a series of themed workshops to actively invite and involve the community.
The resulting action plan was broadly supported by the community with its 13 fundamental pathway steps to health. An implementation group, in liaison with Rocky View County, will proceed with the action plan. The Plan was recognized for its innovation by an award from Alberta Professional Planning Institute in 2016.
